I cannot for the life of me get into the textbooks. What is wrong with me? I have waited for-ev-er to be able to read nursing textbooks and now I find myself doing anything BUT reading them. Even (gasp!) cleaning the house. Everyone is talking about how they have XYZ chapter left, or have already finished (damn overachievers) but here I sit, staring blankly into my textbooks and my empty notebook, with only about 5 chapters behind me.
I really have to kick this habit of waiting until the last minute or I feel I will be struggling BIG TIME over the next 2 years.

You're singing it to the choir; I felt the same with my gen ed classes last semester. I hope I can turn that around in 13 days when my real classes start.
ReplyDeleteHere's something I do when I want to get through a sentence or paragraph faster...instead of focusing my attention towards the middle of the word as I'm reading each word and trying to absorb as I read, I focus more towards the bottom of each word which allows me to read each word faster, I think because my mind isn't trying to absorb each word instead just getting through the sentence. Maybe it’s an optical illusion or something, and I don't know if this makes sense how I'm describing it. But good luck and I hope it helps you to get through your reading faster. You can do it!
I know exactly what you mean about finally being in the nursing program and not wanting to read the material. [and I cannot stand it in school when people go on about how much they have been studying and how far ahead they are....bitches...lol]
ReplyDeleteIt's rough, but you can do it doll. :-)
